Mavericks head coach Kidd revealed that the team's center Gafford sprained his ankle during training yesterday and will be out for 2-3 weeks.
The Mavericks' first preseason game will start on October 7 (the opponent is the Thunder), and the first regular season game will face the Spurs on October 23.
Last season, Gafford played 57 regular season games for the Mavericks, averaging 12.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.8 blocks per game.
