According to the Mirror, Chelsea goalkeeper Petrovic is about to join Premier League promoted Sunderland, with a transfer fee of 21.5 million pounds.

It's been a busy summer for the Blues, and after signing Drapp and Joao Pedro, Chelsea will sell Petrovic in exchange for some funds. Petrovic, 25, played for Chelsea's "sister team" Strasbourg last season, and he performed well during this period.

But for Petrovic, he is more eager to get a stable chance than to return to Stamford Bridge. Moreover, Chelsea has been linked with several goalkeepers this summer, and the Serbian international has also been excluded from the Blues' Club World Cup roster, which is also to allow him to find his next home before the new season. At present, Sunderland is actively promoting the signing of Petrovic.

If an agreement is reached with Chelsea, Petrovic will become a major signing for the Black Cats. Sunderland is investing heavily in order to relegate in the Premier League. They are also close to signing San Giros midfielder Noah Sadiki for £17.3 million, who will undergo a medical examination on Wednesday local time. Not long ago, Sunderland had permanently signed midfielder Lefee, who had previously loaned from Roma, and introduced Habib Diarra with a club record transfer fee.

Petrovic will compete with Patterson for the position of the main goalkeeper. He joined Chelsea two years ago, and Petrovic made 31 appearances for the first team in his first season with the Blues, with the coach at the time being Pochettino. But after Maresca took office, Robert Sanchez became the No. 1 goalkeeper, and the team's goalkeeper lineup also includes Jorgensen and Penders.

Before the start of the Club World Cup, Chelsea tried to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Meinian, but negotiations between the two clubs eventually broke down. It is unclear whether Chelsea will rekindle interest in Meinian or pursue other goalkeepers instead. However, recent news shows that Maresca is satisfied with the existing goalkeeper lineup.
