Polish Football Association refutes the rumor: Captain Lewandowski was decided by the head coach himself and did not hold a meeting with the team committee
Because of dissatisfaction with coach Probilds' decision to change the captain, Lewandowski announced his withdrawal from the Polish national team and publicly contradicted the coach. The Polish Football Association issued a statement to respond, saying that the change of captain was Probilds' own decision and did not hold a meeting with the team committee.
Polish Football Association stated: "In response to recent media reports that the Polish national team committee proposed to change the captain position, the Polish Football Association firmly denied these news. Head coach Probilds did not meet with the team committee, and the decision was made entirely by the coach himself."
