According to US media Sportico, NBA teams generated an average of approximately US$408 million in revenue last season, with total revenue of approximately US$12.2 billion, which also includes revenue from non-NBA events held in arenas owned or operated by teams. The highest income is from the Warriors, about $833 million; the lowest is from the Grizzlies, about $301 million.

The above figures are the net amount after revenue sharing. Last year, through the revenue sharing mechanism, approximately $400 million was transferred from high-income teams and each team's luxury tax (50% of which was used for this) to low-income teams. A total of 10 teams paid a combined $455 million in luxury tax due to their payroll exceeding the $170.8 million luxury tax line.

Last season's "basketball-related revenue" was US$10.25 billion. Affected by the fluctuations in the team's local media market and the fact that many small-market teams reached the playoff conference finals, playoff ticket revenue declined. According to the 51% to 49% split between players and league revenue stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), approximately $480 million was returned to the team from the escrow fund to balance the overall revenue distribution structure.
