Workers unite! Lu: If I accept the Lakers contract, others will have to accept the lower price

Recently, former Lakers player Tyron Lu participated in the "Club Shay Shay" by famous Shannon Sharp and talked about his refusal to coach the Lakers.

Shannon Sharp: "The Lakers had a coaching vacant at the time. You were one of the candidates at the time. I remember LeBron even called you several times and he wanted you to accept the job. Why did you choose not to accept it in the end? I mean, you played for the Lakers. It's always a great story to go back to the team you once played for as a coach."

Tyron Lu: "I would have been very good." I'd like to do it. That would have been a dream come true."

Shannon Sharp: "Then why didn't you take the job?"

Tyron Lu: "First of all, they only gave me a three-year contract, but I want five years. They tried to tie my contract with LeBron, which I understand, but I need longer-term security. Secondly, they're paying too low - not only for me personally, The same goes for head coaching positions at that level. You know, we're always talking about the player's contract. The same is true here. If I accept a bad contract, it sets a bad tone for others. As a black champion coach, I feel like I have a responsibility to set the standard. If I accept a bad contract, what kind of offer will the next black coach get? It's just a worse contract. So I have to stick to that."

" And the biggest problem is? I can't pick my own coaching team. That's something I can't accept. They want to choose an assistant coach for me. For example, it's not me saying 'I want to hire John Drew or this guy, that guy', they'll say 'No- you can only choose him and him'. Even if I might like some of them, the problem is that I can't leave my team behind."
